From the Audacity of Hope, I learned that Senator Lugar had invited Senator Obama with him to tour the former Soviety Union. I expected that Senator Lugar, who is as good a judge of character as he is boring as a speaker, might have a take on Obama based on their close interactions during that trip. It turns out he does.
Lugar observed that Sen. Obama has "a sense of idealism and principled leadership, a vision of the future. At certain points in history, certain people are the ones that are most likely to have the vision or imagination or be able to identify talent and to manage other people's ideas. And I think he does this well."
Republicans might argue that Lugar is just "losing his bearings."

Lugar for VP! That would show the ability to reach across the aisle.
I am a life long Democrat but I believe that Lugar is a much better senator, has a more responsive office and is more intelligent than the empty suit Democratic Senator Evan Bayh and the way that Evan carried on in this primary ...I will never ever again vote for Evan Bayh for anything.
Very interesting. Lugar has helped develop quite a few of our state leaders, most of which aren't too bad, so I'll respect his "endorsement". Did he give an opinion on Clinton?
Should Obama win in November don't be surprised if Lee Hamilton and Richard Lugar are appointed to cabinet positions.
The economy and foreign policy will be the key issues in this campaign and Obama is surrounding himself and seeking advice from the best on both sides of the political aisle.
